Join us for the 21st Dangerous Consumptions Colloquium, an in-person gathering of researchers and scholars who bring critical, social and cultural studies perspectives to diverse topics around any forms of ‘dangerous’, ‘risky’ and contested consumption. Hosted by the Centre for Addiction Research, this interdisciplinary event welcomes diverse voices and innovative presentation formats.
👉Registration is open—secure your spot HERE
We encourage presentations from critical, social and cultural studies perspectives exploring topics as diverse as: alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, coffee, sugar, illicit drugs, gambling, sexuality, reproduction, the Internet, social media, media forms/popular culture, pornography, fossil fuels, food and animals. Take this opportunity to discuss adventurous ideas and theories related to your work with a friendly audience.

🗓️ Submission deadline: 31 August 2025
The Colloquium runs over two days with a single stream of papers so attendees can share ideas and understandings from different perspectives. We aim for collaborative discussions about dangerous consumptions and the conceptual approaches used to make sense of them.
